Internal Medicine Department of Hasanuddin University Conducts Community Service Program in Polewali Mandar
The Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, successfully conducted the 2026 Community Service Program in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi, as part of its ongoing commitment to improving public health and strengthening community engagement.
Held from 21–23 August 2026, the program brought together faculty members, residents, healthcare professionals, local committees, and community partners in a series of educational and social activities.
Promoting Health Through Education and Community Engagement
The second day of the program featured a series of activities focused on health education and community service. These included seminars for healthcare professionals and the general public, providing opportunities to share medical knowledge, promote health awareness, and encourage preventive healthcare practices.
The team also conducted social services in collaboration with UTD PMI Polewali Mandar and carried out community outreach activities in Batetanga Village, providing direct health-related benefits to the local community.
These activities reflect the Department of Internal Medicine’s commitment to extending its academic and professional contributions beyond the hospital and campus environment, while addressing the healthcare needs of communities in the region.
Strengthening Collaboration and Togetherness
The final day of the program was marked by a morning exercise at Bahari Beach, bringing together the local committee, department staff, internal medicine residents, and faculty members in a warm and informal atmosphere.
Beyond promoting physical well-being, the activity served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration among everyone involved in the program. The beautiful coastal surroundings of Bahari Beach added to the memorable experience following several days of community service.
The success of the 2026 Community Service Program would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of the Government of Polewali Mandar Regency, local healthcare professionals, community leaders, local committees, faculty members, residents, and all participating partners.
