In commemoration of World Hepatitis Day 2026, the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Hasanuddin, through the Division of Gastroentero-Hepatology, organized a series of educational and public health activities aimed at increasing awareness of hepatitis, promoting prevention, and encouraging early detection.
The series of activities included “Bicara Hati RSW Unhas,” a public seminar and talk show that addressed important topics related to hepatitis, including commonly overlooked symptoms, the importance of screening and early diagnosis, and strategies for hepatitis prevention in the modern era.
Public education was further strengthened through “Bicara Sehat RSP Unhas,” a health talk show and podcast featuring experts in gastroentero-hepatology. The sessions provided accessible and informative discussions to help the community better understand hepatitis and encourage proactive measures for prevention and early detection.
The World Hepatitis Day 2026 campaign also involved direct community engagement at CFD Boulevard Panakkukang, Makassar, featuring a 6,000-Step Walk, Group Exercise Session, Hepatitis Education, and Hepatitis Screening. These activities provided an opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles while increasing public awareness of liver health, hepatitis prevention, and the importance of early detection.
Through this series of activities, the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Hasanuddin, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public health education and supporting efforts to prevent and control hepatitis.
